  • Beachwood Public Boat Ramp Online Meeting TOMORROW Wednesday 1/18/23 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Hello all, there is an ONLINE public meeting TOMORROW Wed 1/18/23 at 6:30 pm about a proposed public boat ramp at Beachwood Park on the Magothy River. A Beachwood ramp would be the first public boat ramp on the Magothy. A public boat ramp would let kayakers drivedown to the water and unload, unlike the current slog down and up a steep hill. Here is the zoom link for the Wednesday night online meeting: https://aacounty.zoom.us/j/810654245...1hSnVUNU9CZz09

Please attend this online meeting and support a public boat ramp at Beachwood Park. There is already opposition from the nearby water-privileged communities.

Thanks for sharing. A public ramp on the Magothy would be great.

The meeting announcement states: "The Department of Recreation and Parks is looking for additional areas to provide water access
throughout the County for public use. Beachwood Park is one area that is being evaluated."

Do you know which other sites are being considered?

Rec & Parks did not specify location during the online meeting, only two sites on the Severn. R&P is also mushy about what they're doing - it's hard to tell when they're talking about a boat ramp and when they're talking about some other type of public water access. public

There is a really short fuse on the comment period and I am starting a new thread. It was supposed to be 14 days ie February 1, 2023. Rec & Parks delayed posting the plans and meeting video until Monday 1/23/23 - ie 5 days late - and so far are refusing to extend the comment period so we at least get 14 days from the time the plans were posted to comment. Nine days! and the only people they notified were people living within 300 feet of Beachwood and the Magothy River Association. How is that notifying the public?!
