Discovery Village Good News

Hello all,

The kayak launch in Discovery Village in Shady Side MD has been improved with a wider blacktop mini-ramp to the water, replacing the former narrow oyster shell path. It's going to be a lot easier to use. The kayak launch is on the right a ways past the boat ramp as you drive into the park. There is also an excellent public boat tamp at Discovery Village.

Cool - this launch is local to me and I use it often. I only used the cartop launch a couple times and it was a pain - it used to be covered in mid-sized rocks and it puts you into super shallow water. There was some scrap metal near the mouth of the cove (it may still be there) and it put a nice gouge in my new-at-the-time kayak on the first trip out. I'm glad to hear they improved the cartop launch.

Since they built the boat ramp a few years ago I just use that... It is a very nice boat ramp with a huge turn around area and lots of space to park.
