I like my Bending Branches Angler Ace. The carbon fiber shaft is very lightweight and the reinforced blades have a little more surface area than others that I looked at so they really move some water with each stroke.Dave

Rick - A lot depends on whether you plan to paddle all or most of the time as I do, or if you want the paddle for occasional use to supplement a pedal drive or electric motor. If you paddle a lot, paying more for a lighter weight paddle is worth the extra money. If the paddle is just for occasional use, get a basic one with metal shaft and plastic blades.
Years ago, I splurged and bought an ultra-lightweight Werner carbon-fiber Ikelos paddle. I liked the large blade surface area, but learned that this paddle normally came in only shorter shaft lengths. I visited my local kayak shop. They offered to order a custom version of the Ikelos for me. The paddle included the same large blades but increased the shaft length to 240 cm. I love that paddle and have used it hard over more than 1,000 kayak fishing trips.
I assume you want a paddle for your new Osprey kayak. I believe it is 36" wide, plus the seating arrangement will have you high off the water surface. You would be well served to get a very long paddle (at least 260 cm and maybe longer). Some of the paddle companies make a paddle that has an adjustable shaft length. That might work for you.
Other features that may or may not be important to you are having a measuring scale painted onto the shaft and having a notch cut out of the blade that can be used to extract snagged lures more readily.John Veil
