Went to the old stomping grounds for the first tandem trip with my oldest son in the new crescent crew. We were more just trying to feel things out and figure out where to put rod holders how to paddle together etc. We made it on the water by 6 yesterday and wanted to land our first striper of the year. We trolled my usual route with no luck to start. We turned around to hit the same spots and my son got his first hook up. First little striper in the boat. To me that's all I really came out for was to see if tandem trolling would be possible and I really wanted him to hook up so he would get the itch to go again. We paddled along some more and he ended up getting hit again this time a fat 10" perch on the 4" kietech. As we released the perch we noticed the dark clouds starting to come in and decided to call it. Overall successful little trip and just a good time connecting with a growing 15 year old.

So many great times taking my son with me when he was young like your's. Didn't have a tandem kayak, in fact there were few around then I cared to fish on so I used my canoe with float bags in case. Fished mostly between Cobb and St. Clements Island. You guys might like St. Clements Island if you haven't been there. Fishing can be awesome for rockfish, perch, occassional trout, reds, small blues. A word of caution if you do, watch the wind, it can get squirrelly there in a hurry.
