  • Bird Identification?

I saw this very 2024-08-14 12.14.03.jpg large bird sitting in a dead tree by a pond here in Columbia.
You'll have to zoom in as I was 50 yards away from it.

I thought that it may have been a juvenile Bald Eagle, but it has a solid white breast. I've seen Bald Eagles here, and, of course, up by Conowingo Dam, and I've seen enough Ospreys, it's definitely not an Osprey, way too large.

    Any ideas?

    Mystery solved.
I went back to the pond this morning with a pair of binoculars and could clearly see the stripe across the bird's head.

Definitely an Osprey, but a big darn Osprey, easily twice the size of the Ospreys I see near the Bay.

My first instinct was to say osprey, but I thought that was too obvious!
      Used to fish more.
