  • Seriously sore Tail Bone

Any recommendations on a seat that will prevent this? I have a ocean kayak prowler trident. I got the Yak attack pad and still my tail bone was killing me after about 5 - 6 hours. Does anyone have any good solutions?
The best time spent is time that doesn't feel like it was spent at all. When it's worth it you'll give everything to do it all over again no matter what the cost.

Try something like using small size pool noddles or even pipe insulation from hardware store (pic below). You could try an air cushion or a garden kneeling pad. Can cut a kneeling pad as need...

The idea is to take the weight off the tailbone. I would try simple tricks like this before spending hundred on gel seats that may not work. If you think about it, we are force to sit in an unnatural "L-shaped" position that increases the pressure on our tailbone. I was even thinking you could try larger size pool noodles under your knees to promote a more natural position.

I tried knee pads and foam on top of a surf-to-summit seat. It was better, but I still had pain. I then went to a $50 gel pad, but it was not much improvement. I guess because I'm on the yak up to 10 hours and average about 8 hours.

Never thought of noodles. Looks like a good idea.

Gel seats are nice and can help considerably, however, there is still pressure on the tailbone. Take a kneeling pad and cut out a "U-shape" notch and trim the outer portion to fit kayak seat. This redirect the weight to your bodies natural padding (glutes). Problem with pool noodles is you may not like the extra height while fishing.
