Is Craigs list the 'best' place to search for used kayaks? I'm thinking about asking a dealer if they are aware of anyone selling a usedOK Prowler, of Wilderness Big Game. Any suggestions on where to look?

      Thanks, I really appreciate your advice . . .

      Cheers!

I won't suggest one kayak company over another because there are several good ones out there. I would suggest that you go to some major outdoor stores like Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, Cabellas, etc.. That way you could look at some and compare just like you would anything else. Kayaks are rated for weight and taylored to what your needs are.

I'm a newb but I'll "weigh-in" (punn intended) as well. I was concerned with capacity like you, since I'm sort of a husky guy at (275lb.) I shopped around and did some homework to settle on a Jackson Kyak "Big Tuna" for its versatility and features like the built-in "Tuna Tank" live well/cooler in the center of the floor (see link below and description.) Also, it is a tandem that can be easily reconfigured to paddle solo. According to marketing materials and limited reviews the boat handles nearly as good as a solo platfrom as a tandem. I had several criteria in mind when shopping and being able to take my wife or a friend out on my boat with me was a huge deciding factor. I will see in time how that works for me. The specifications indicate the weight capacity for the boat is 575lbs. It is a large boat at just over 14' with a 35.5" beam so it should be fairly stable. I am determined to get this raft in the water this weekend and will provide some more insight after it gets wet. Oh, I purchased at Hudson Trail Outfitters in Annapolis for $1399.
