  • Great Chesapeake Bay Swim this Sunday at the BB - No fishing

I just found out on TidalFish that there's a swimming race going on at the BB on Sunday, during which time, apparently, fishing there is prohibited. Just a heads up to those who were thinking of heading there for some pullage on Sunday.

Crossing with a yak is a workout... can't imagine swimming it!

That's crazy with the current that can rip thru there.

They were having the Potomac crossing swim event at PLO this past weekend while we were down there. It was canceled half way thru due to the conditions. I cant fathom swimming that far.

I remember swimming a mile back in my early 20's and that nearly killed me. That was in a calm lake too.

The race is scheduled around the tides and goes off when it's usually not that strong. They give them a time limit than your plucked from the water bc of the possibility of the currents. They have had a few people die but not from drowning etc... Usually it was some undisgnosed heart condition. I would love to do that swim.... But the doggie paddle won't get me to far.

I'd love to do that swim but I can't figure out how to drink beer or smoke a cigarette while I do it so I guess I'll stick to the yak.
