Informal June Meet and greet has mixed success

First, For once at a meet and greet I get to be one of the highliners!!! Finally
Second, it was fun to fish with everyone though we launched from separate lauch sites so not everyone got hooked up. I launched at the store like Rock chaser and Moc, but I eventually could not take the beating the wind was giving us anymore and went to the Chesapeake side of the point which was sheltered from the wind.....a very good decision. I caught a steady stream of 13-16 inch croaker, several doubles, and kept about 8 nice ones that were either hooked badly or just looked tasty!

I also got to meet dsmero who prefished PLO and reported on the good croaker bite last weekend and our new female member===Kitkatyaker!
, I think she and dsmero caught the most of the daytime group. Sun and dson fished the evening before and did well!!!

meeting new fishing buddies

First, I too want to thank Kevin for taking the helm for this meet and greet. I have fished PLO many times over many years but never from a kayak. It was an incredible experience and very productive. Thanks to dsmero and kevin for helping me to launch and more importantly beaching and loading my yak. There were three other fellas I need to thank also; pls forgive me for forgetting your names, but I look forward to fishing with all of you again. Fishing has been in my blood since I was a little girl so it's Great to find folks who love it as much as I do. Thanks again to all of you.

Didn't get out yesterday. Hit the DC Potomac today. Got some cats and a gar. There were hundreds of gar surfacing around by key bridge. Very strange sight.

Great informal meet. It was nice to see so many yaks out there for a change. Ran into Kitkat, Sun and Dsmero. Missed the hot time friday because I arrived late, but hooked up to a few decent ones later that evening. Came in for a 1.5 hour power nap and headed back out at 3:30 am. Hit a decent string of them at that time as well. It was nice cause I was about to catch about 5 or some odd spots and at least in the teens of decent croakers ranging from 10 - 13. Not as big as the last few weeks that I caught them but it was still fun in its own regards.

Saturday night we launched at about 3:30 pm again to fish the evening. It was not all too busy really. seemed like action slowed down a good amount. Ran into a couple more spot and another dozen or so croaker, but they were even smaller then earlier in the day. I ran out of bloodworms as well and that was the choice bait in that run of fish.

Started fishing with the spot that I had caught in the last 2 times I paddled out this weekend. I hooked into 5 nice sized blues that gave me a very fun fight on the light tackle that I was using. The drag that the croakers in the last few weeks of fishing could not pull from the reel was tested by all the blues I hooked into. Ranging from 15- 18 inches all of them were very fun to catch. I had a few more good hits but couldn't set the hook right.

All in all. It was very fun meeting the few people that I did. Hopefully I will run into more of you in the days to come.

Hey Kitkat, I thought I had an account for this site but maybe it was for a different one. So, i created this one. Anyways, just wanted to say it was nice to see other yaks out in the water. Did you get more croakers near that crab trap? Fairly productive 2 hours of fishing....Something was out in that water, had a croaker that I couldn't get the hook out of because it was pretty deep and it was on steel hook set. I decided to just drag it in and worry about getting the hook out after I get back to the beach area. Whatever it was bit through that cable like it's regular nylon and took my croaker

I picked the wrong side to fish from, but it was nice meeting up with everyone. I fished the cornfield harbor side. I started off trying to get some flounder and when that didn't work picked up a couple croaker before the bite shut off. Kevin, thanks for setting up the lunch, I'm glad I was able to make it.
