Fascinating. It's like, "Why is it just following the lures? Attack it!"

I was thinking about using two lures. I'm going to do it now. If I see it right, the bottom bucktail looks weighed, but the upper grub worm looks unweighed.

Thanks for posting. I learned some good pointers.

too cool. that fish followed the BT for a long time. hope to find some on saturday over in Rumbly

tufnik you can use a dropper type fly for the upper lure or just a hook with a gulp on it

What's a dropped type fly? I'm thinking about using a dropper loop on the leader with a white grub worm/twister on an unweighed 5/0 j-hook attached. At the end of the foot-long leader, I'd put maybe a 3/4 oz bucktail tipped with squid. Gotta watch for those pesky croakers though.

Where's Rumbly? Not sure I can make it, but I'm thinking Roosevelt, Indian, or OC this weekend.

I'm making them as we speak. Basically you use a 1 oz BT like a Spro at the bottom and then dropper loop with a J hook rigged with another 4" gulp minnow. I seen it setup on TV before when they were fishing up in NY/NJ. Seems popular setup up there.

Dropper is good unless there are bluefish around.

                Tuf,
Keep an eye on the winds and check coastal fisherman's report pertaining to OC. I know a couple days ago the flounder fishing was phenominal, but if the E winds howl, the water will dirty and the bite will be tough to impossible. The east channel and the south jetty were the hot spots.

                    If there's a blue, I'll still going to get'um on a dropper with 50# mono........unless it's a two footer with mean chompers.

Going to get and try some of those clousers.

Thanks for the heads up, Raven. Still not sure if I can go. Man, I need to get that fluke rig in the water.

I've got Skinner's book and it was a great read!! When we were in Jbay I jigged my bucktail much slower than he does. A quick pull and follow the lure back down with my rod tip and snap back up again. None of that herky jerky. Now I didn't catch a million, but they were all keepers. Now I know his method is proven by his success, but I would have loved to see if he tried different presentations to see if he could have enticed a bite. It was cool to see nonetheless. I dunno how he kept that camera pointed in the right direction!

RavensD, I think you got a little mixed up, east winds bring in the clean water to the bay. West winds muddy up the water and keep fresh ocean water from coming in. Lets do some fishing in July though Doug!

Haha, yeah I did. And July sounds good. I'm going in two or three weeks to VA again for sheeps. New reel and rod. Can't shake em off my mind.
