  • Live Target Lures

Has anyone used any of the Live Target Lures. Damn, they look good. I am really interested in the menhaden models, in silver. They look to be a good trolled lure. One of the models dives to 25+ feet deep. That is perfect. The sizes look good also, 4" and 6". I have been a long time Rapala and YoZuri fan, but I man have to add some new stock to the stable, or possibly new bait to the box.

I know, they look fantastic! Bass pro has a section devoted to them, mostly the silvery menhaden and herring ones that I checked out. Look good and solid. Haven't tried them yet, though.

I have used the Real Target frogs for over a year- caught a lot of big bass- had several snakeheads eat it- caught three big bass today on it-

i first saw the live target baits at bass pro but they didn't have the model in deep diver that i wanted, then same thing w/Cabela's catalog. they do look very interesting.

I know about the models. There are not many of the deep crankbaits in metalic menhaden. It looks like Dicks has them. The next time I am near the store, I'll have to take a look at them. They cost more than at Bass Pro, but I want to give one a try. They will be soon at most of the stores. I might try to get some in at our store also.

The frogs also look nice, for the snakehead hunt.

So I broke the ice on the frogs this weekend. I went out to Leesylvania and tore into the bass. They seem to have better action than the Strike King frogs too. Do you guys have better luck with a certain color of frogs? I hear the black and golds work well.

My thoughts: action is most important, it could be a chunk of old tire if you can impart the correct action to it (this is where brand and quality design come into play). Then comes color. 99% of the frogs have the same color on the bottom; either light or dark. So I have 6 frogs I use in two colors.

2 frogs: hollow body reg frog black or brown & white or lt yellow/green
2 frogs: hollow body popping black or brown & white or lt yellow/green
2 frogs: soft plastic type black or brown & white or lt yellow/green

I do have many more that I've experimented with but it boils down to the above.

I'm bringing up an old thread that I missed (found this thread on google...go figure!)

I noticed these lures a few trips back at BassPro. I finally pulled the trigger and picked up two of these LiveTarget Menhaden lures. I got a crankbait to be trolled (dives to 15'), and I got a twitch bait to be cast in shallow water. I plan to use them next month when I go to JBay.

I have used the herring, shiner (lipless crank bait), and the bluegill wake baits. I have had good results with all three and all of them have very durable finishes and can take a beating.

They all go deeper than advertised, I had the 15' diver hit 20+ feet with braid.
