Today Surfdog and I hit the Severn River after putting over @ the Naval Academy ramp. After a little bit of delay on my part, we got on the wate about 6am and instantly got on the White Perch. We were hitting the walls around the towers and the fun didnt stop until we went out onto some open water near the channel marker in an attempt for some Stripers. I rigged up a chartruese BKD and not sure what Surfdog was using but he quickly got a 19" striper. We headed back into shore shortly after that. I ended up with 7 nice pansized perch and got a bonus when we were were loading up the yaks from another fisherman (fisherlady) who gave me 2 more perch. Not a bad day. Thanks Surfdog!!!!

the one i go to uesed to be marked with a bouy, its gone now but i have its location in my head. too many lurkers to give away honey hole
i had to find them the hard way look for hard bottom on the ff and if you snag up or hook on to a shell there you are. there are also a lot of good dropoffs from 10-20' that hold fish in the area

If you use the magnification on your sonar, you will be able to see where the oyster beds are. Usually, your anchor will also tell you as it is harder to get a hold over a bed. In the bay, the beds are mostly horizontal but in the rivers, they are now making vertical beds which keep the oysters from being asphyxiated by silt. These are much easier to see than the flat beds.John
