Was interesting, that's for sure. We were lucky, all the trees that fell missed everything. Electricity blew away for who knows how long, so this is posting from a comfortable (cool) LaQuinta Inn in Waldorf. Hope everyone else faired as well.

I flew home tonight from Mobile, Alabama- family was without electricity until about 11 am today- limbs down in the yard and my garden is a mess, but overall we are OK- I caught some nice red snapper off Daulphin Island that made my business trip a happier trip for me- from the looks of the yard I will be busy for a few days with a chainsaw cutting wood- the winds must have been really bad to take down so many trees and tear up my garden- tomato plants are blown over in their cages and the wooden stakes are broken off- what a mess! Last fall we hooked up to Charles County water after they ran a new water main past our property and disconnected from the well water- best move ever- especially when the power is out! We were without electricty for about 12 hours so it was restored pretty quickly by SMECO- they have a great bunch of workers-

Lost power around 11 PM last night. I have a generator so I've been running it off and on today. I'm able to power my internet and cable TV router with the generator. No AC. No hot water. No clothes washing or dish washer. No oven. Refrigerator is working good and no food spoilage yet. Microwave works. I'm on well water, so the well is only works when the generator is on. No sign of BGE anyplace within a 20 minute drive today in my driving around. I'll be back at the gas station tomorrow to fill up my gas cans to power the generator. I'm shutting down tonight at 11 PM.

I was lucky ........ went out for about 3 hours last night ........... came back on @ 2 AM ......... watched the whole thing lat night ......... winds looked @ 70 mph trees really bent ....... thought I was going to have a tree through my roof .......... rain wasn't much but the lightning show was incredible ............

Auntie Em, Auntie Em, its a twister. Glad everyone is ok. Good idea about the hotels.

The worst thing here was the loss of internet for a short period of time. Never mind no air conditioning, refrigeration or lights, I did not have MKF for a period of time. I thought, I was going to have a melt down. Crisis averted.

Sunday 9AM near Columbia, still no power. Gotta love the generator though. FIOS rules. BG&E is not my friend. I'm glad I went fishing on Friday.

I got back in from Tahoe at about 130 am saturday morning. I saw a lot of good sized trees and limbs down along 295 and some around my neighborhood, but we only had a small branch break off of one of the trees in the backyard. Power never went out in Elkridge for us... Went to Basspro yesterday to pickup an online order and heard some people talking about hail?

We got power back last night just before mid night here in lower Fairfax county. I had my small Honda 2000 generator from my work truck running for 16 hours straight. Kept the FIOS, frig and a fan running so life was doable. A/C would have made it better.

We had extention cords running to 4 niegbors refridgerators and I would switch them out ever 2 hours to keep them cold. I should have free bourbon for a month comming my way.

As far as tree damage, it's an Effing mess around here.

left my house at 0325 to meet martin and shield and head to bellevue for some fishing, came out and saw that it had rained and a couple leaves in the front yard and did not think much of it till i went a block and the intersection of magothy bridge and 648 the power was out and all the way to the BB it was dark. power was on over the bridge so got coffee and bws at the 7-11 and talked to some people that had sat on 50 west bound for 4 hours because the bridge was closed down do to an over turned truck. called home around 7 to see if power was still on wife said we were good but back yard was a mess and pool was full of leaves. we got lucky this time but a lot of others about 500,000 in MD dont have power.

4:00 pm Sunday in Arlington county. No power yet, fridge full of spoiled food making its way to the trash tonight. I'm sweating on my back porch attempting to grill a frozen pizza and hoping the power comes on tonight in a last ditch effort to save a fine 10lb frozen pork shoulder that was to be pulled pork heaven on the 4th. No damage to the house but I did manage to rip my from rack off the car thanks to a down power line on Friday night driving home after the mess blew thru. I couns not see the wire until it was directly over the roof. It caught the front rack and ripped it off the roof. No damage to the car of saddles but the two Thule uprights are trashed. Oh I think my pizza is done.... Looks terrible....

In the midst of irony.....
This week we moved just a 1/2 mile down the road to keep my step-son in the same elementary school for his 5thphoto grade year.
Old place has and never lost power. New place has been with out power since 11pm on Friday night.
We are doing laundry at the old house, hoping the power isn't turned off as scheduled for today.
Sure miss fishing....

Rats, that's rotten luck. Yes, parts of Columbia are still dark. My power outside of Columbia just returned at 7PM. I'm glad I had a generator. It worked perfectly and allowed us to flush toilets, take showers, watch TV, have internet, and save our groceries.

I hope your power returns quickly.

The wind never even blew hard hear. But friends reported it looks like a twisted and 70 mph winds just 5 miles away.

Never lost power for an instance, but the lightning came to visit though and took 3 computer and a bunch of other electronics in the house. What a pain in the but and no, surge proteector strips do not work. Computers and other equipment is fried and the red light saying if the strip works is still on.
