Im thinking of making my first trip of the year down to Virginia beach this saturday and staying until sunday afternoon (7/7-7/8). The main target would be flounder as that seems to be the best bet right now... I might try for sheeps too. Anyone else interested. I would likely fish CBBT saturday morning-afternoon then HRBT at night and then somewhere else sunday morning. Thoughts?

Still need to work my schedule, Ryan. Depending on wx forecast, I hope to fish HRBT-North early Friday am and then fish CBBT early Sat am. Sat evening fishing is a possibility for me.

Seems that the recent reports from VB area have been a bit mediocre for me. Im staying local this weekend. I'll think about going down again later in the month. Good luck to all that go this weekend...

Mediocre reports don't mean much. There were mediocre reports when Hokie and I went down two weeks ago. I caught nine flounder (plus a blue and two dozen croaker) at HRBT. At CBBT, Hokie caught about eight flounder plus a 36" black drum, and we both caught 3-4 dozen croaker and then some. Remember, some people catch fish and don't necessarily report it.

If you go on the wrong tide cycle you would swear there isn't any fish in the water- Mattawoman Creek is that way- if you are there when the bite starts, it is golden...if not...

There are fish there. It seems out going tide has been the key. It was for me at least. Go straight to the SBC and the 2nd boat channel by the island and you should catch flounders there.
Sheeps is tricky and I need to work on that.

I wish I could go but I will have to wait awhile before my next chance.

I know that loads of croaker and blues are pretty much guaranteed, I just cant get myself in the mindset to drive the four hours to VB this weekend...

                Oops, PM space now available.

I know what you mean. Takes motivation to do the long drive. The joy of pullage should be greater than the pain of driving, but there's always the possibility of a skunk. When you get a skunk, and I've got many down there, the motivation has to be even greater.

People who are catching, aren't posting with the intent on keeping individuals who rely on reports away. By the time you read a solid report, your two days too late. Any chance I get to go down there I'm in. Granted I do not have a 4 hour drive, but if you have the time I wouldnt pass it up.
