For those not on tidalfish... I'm out on a cruise doing some research trawling, and we caught a couple interesting fish in the Patuxent, which is saltier this year than usual.
The first is an Atlantic cutlassfish:
We've caught cutlassfish in other years that are warm with higher salinity. However, there was something with the cutlassfish that I found more interesting:
We've historically caught young of the year weakfish pretty commonly, but we've been seeing more and more fish of this size (9-12") over the past few years. I need to check to see what the lastest stock assessments say. Both species are pretty cool to see, especially in the river.
