where was that? I am headed the other way, that was better than one of those emails where a scary face pops up. could you imagine sitting in your yak pulling in a red when that happens, I would shitz my drawers.

Fairly certain it was a bull shark. That was very cool and crazy with it that damn close to a dock.

That's why I don't like to dangle my legs off the side of the yak. It also makes you think twice about reaching down to get grab the line with a splashing fish

It was in myrtle beach, cherry grove. The fish was a red and the shark was a bull. Even have the long and lat of where it happened on the comments for the vid, lol!

are you serious about not dangling the legs thing. I do it all the time without ever thinking of that. I see video of guys down at the cbbt hanging their legs over while sitting sideways and i know there are sharks down in that area. your leg would be gone in a second like that Red. don't want to sound like a big ole sissy here, wish i had never seen that darn clip. Kind of like watching the movie "Legend of Boggy Creek" when i was a kid and it kind of ruined camping that summer for me. Wait a minute........maybe I am a big sissy. lol

How about the nbc report on two men at Cape Cod this past weekend -out kayaking for the first time. People on shore noticed a fin following them and yelled to them, paddle! paddle! Some one snapped a great pic with the fin 10 ft or so behind a yaker with the poor guy looking at it over his shoulder! All were safe but it does remind us that the drunken boaters aren't our only danger.

Turns out the shark originaly thought to be a great white is actually a basking shark that eats plankton. Wonder which type is better for tourism? Here's a local paper article with pic.

I used to live in MB before i got into yak fishing and we would catch fish off the piers or surf and throw them back in and see 3 or 4 bull sharks rush to the surface and destroy the fish.
