Anyone fish Patuxent River around Jug Bay? Are there special areas for fishing there?

The fishing in the Pax up that far is pretty slow in the summer, it is a beautiful paddle though. It seems that the yellow and white perch spawning runs are the only time fishing is decent there these days. There are still a few LM bass, some sunfish, and lot's-o-catfish.
The lay-downs along the shore past the pier if you go left out of the Jackson's Landing launch can be good. There is a lot of shade on those lay-downs so the fish can get out of the sun. Keep the sun from behind you while you fish them though or the fish will see you or your shadow and you won't get a bite. The water is fairly deep right there as well. There is also a deep hole in front of the mouth of the Western Branch if you head north out of Jug Bay, that holds some fish year-round.
