Month-long perch tournament starts Aug 1

Many MKF anglers enjoy perch fishing. The Severn River Rod and Keg Club (SRRKC) holds a month-long low-key perch tournament throughout August. Fish can be caught anywhere within the Chesapeake Bay. The announcement for the tournament can be seen at http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/show...l-Sign-Up-Page. All qualifying fish must be submitted as a photograph of the fish against a measuring device. Prizes are awarded for the single longest perch and the largest total of your three longest perch.

The guy who makes the Maryland Tackle feather jigs (Woody) has won this event the last few years. He is a remarkable perch fisherman and he has an unlimited supply of his own lures to use. But there is always a chance for some other angler to take the prizes this year. You must register by Aug 1 to be able to participate.

Woody is a good family friend i fish his lures religiously . Get in contact with him and buy some . I caught 4.1 lbs of perch last saturday in a tourny and came in 15th place . Crazy i know . 5 1/4 lbs won it . For 5 fish . Perch r going nuts

No -- the SRRKC is very laid back. You can use any device that clearly shows the length.

As an aside, the Aug SRRKC meeting will be held at the Greene Turtle restaurant/bar next to Annapolis Mall on Wed Aug 1 at 7:00. Anyone is welcome.

Just a quick reminder. If you are planning to enter this event ($10), today is the last day for registration. Also the SRRKC will have its monthly meeting tonight (Aug 1) at the Greene Turtle restaurant/bar off of Jennifer Rd across from Annapolis Mall.
