  • 3rd Annual Cape May Kayak Fishing Jamboree for Friday, 10/19/12 through Sunday, 10/21

    Dear Kayak Anglers,

    Jersey Cape Kayak Fishing would like to announce that we have set the date for the 3rd Annual Cape May Kayak Fishing Jamboree for Friday, 10/19/12 through Sunday, 10/21/12. Registration is now open at JCKF.net. This is a charity event to raise funds and awareness for Heroes on the Water. The entry fee is $50 and includes a T-shirt, Dinner on Saturday night and Raffle Ticket. Registration can be found at http://jckf-forum.forumotion.net/t77...istration-2012

    In the strictest of terms, this event in not a tournament. We want it to be more of a gathering of friends for the sake of the camaraderie found within this sport and leave the formalities out. For this reason, we switched to a Jamboree type of format last year and everyone had a blast!

    We are already receiving donations from sponsors to be raffled off to raise money for H.O.W. Many companies donate for the sake of promoting the sport and supporting various charities. These are the companies that we have chosen to align ourselves with. Please visit their sites and consider their products when shopping.

    A NON-mandatory meet and greet bon-fire meeting will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 6pm, at the Lake Laurie Campground (Event Headquarters) located in Erma, NJ. This meeting will be about general information and we’ll be sharing some up to date hot spots. We’ll open up the raffles and Calcutta’s at this time too. We’ll also need to satisfy the traditional good luck toast. Please bring a beverage of your choosing to the meeting.

    For bragging rights, and for those with a competitive edge, we will be having some prizes and a few Calcutta’s. Target species will be Striped Bass, Weakfish, Bluefish, Fluke and Tautog. Individual species, Slam and Grand Slam categories will be created.

    We recommend that everyone stay at the Lake Laurie Campground. (We had the entire campground to ourselves for last two years.) Plenty of clean bathrooms, showers and laundry are on site. The staff there is awesome and we had an absolute blast last year. If you weren’t there, talk to someone that was. You’ll be told not to miss it. We are in the planning stages of adding; kayak fishing clinics, sponsor booths, on the water kayak demos, and fresh water fishing within the tournament headquarters all through the weekend long event. Each participant will receive an event T-shirt and dinner at the banquet to be held on Saturday at 5pm.

    If you have any questions about the event or would like to become a sponsor or exhibitor, please feel free to check out the full info on JCKF.net or email us at;

        I have never fished up in that area. Is that bay fishing or in the ocean?

            Where do you guys fish at Cape May? Do you go into the Ocean at Cape May Point State Park or in the Delaware Bay around Sunset Beach?

            Regards,

              To answer a couple of questions asked already, the fishing area is pretty widespread. Conditions allowing, you can go out either Cape May Inlet or Hereford Inlet and fish the ocean. There is also plenty of good locations inside the inlets and creeks which make up the area. Here's a link to info about the area from last years jambo...http://jckf-forum.forumotion.net/t50...s-and-launches

              The Delaware bay is in bounds as well, there are launches available in Lower Township and near Sunset Beach.

                      Sorry that I will not make this one but I wish you all the best of luck for a good jamboree. As the MD HOW Coordinator I know how important this fundraiser is for Heroes on the Water and that you guys will do a great job just as you did for the Susky Jamboree last April. My Executive Officer or Assistant Coordinator, John (Naysayer) will be there representing MD HOW. On those lines, will you be doing the Susky Jamboree again next April and if so, do you have a date set at this time.
                      Thanks for all you guys are doing there to put troops in the seats. I wish you great weather and tight lines!!!! Just because I can't make it in person doesn't mean I can't support you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with for your event.

                            I'm confirmed and will most likely make the trip over on Thursday after work. Anyone up for some night time inlet fishing for weakies? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

                            Who's going from this group?
