Piney Point or PLO? (Sep.1)

PLO.
This is a response to some PM.
I am joining Justin, Kevin and Dave. I am heading for PLO mainly for flounder

I am expecting at PLO:
Juvenile Red Drum for sure,
Some 13-14” croaker (very high possibility)
Keeper Flounder (very possible)
Keeper striper (possible)
bluefish

If you are heading for Piney Point:
Parking can be an issue on weekend - very crowded,
Possible Keeper Speck,
keeper Striper (possible),
Keeper flounder (slim chance),
bluefish

DAMN! I forgot I have baby duty tomorrow. Maybe I should ask the wife to reschedule her birthday present (spa day) for another time so I can catch some fish. Hahah... sigh....

Guys,

I live in Piney Point. I didn't see this post until Saturday night. I wish I had since I took my boat out and had a much less than pleasurable day. Think bad things happened. An any rate if anyone is planning on fishing from Piney Point on Monday please post. I will try to get out on Monday morning weather permitting. I fish Piney Creek and the gas docks often. I've caught some small flounder, small rock, small blues, puppy drum, reasonable size perch and some nice sized croaker in the last couple of weeks. I am still searching for that keeper flounder.

If any one is fishing down that way please let me know. I typically listen in on channel 68 on the VHF when on the water answering to my center consoles name of Feelin' Fintastic.

I fished PLO today- got there about 9 am and left at 7 pm- caught everything- stripers, specks, flounder and redfish by the dozen- problem was none were keepers- 17 3/4 inch striper, 16 1/2 redfish, 13 inch flounder, 12 inch speckled trout- I fished the mouth of the inlet out to the pound nets and inside lake Conroy- I took some pictures with my new AW100 Nikon camera- just need to load the software on the computer to download...

Ron sorry we (comeonfish and I) missed you but we went everywhere in search of flounder but.......NOTHING. we did get some nice reds and some seabass..Joe got a solid striper but it it was short. Sadly I also caught TOADS...first all summer except for the first time out in May. 11 hours in the saddle and no keepers to show for it...

Kevin- I caught three redfish that I orginally thought were keepers- 16 inch, 16 inch and 16 1/2 inch- fat, hard fighters, but alas, just short of keeper size- all three had me getting my measure board out...two were caugfht on my UL spinning rod- Got a 17 3/4 inch striper that I just knew was a keeper- It ate a XR10 blue/silver XRap...I quite counting Redfish after 18- got no idea what my total catch was- four flounder- eight or nine stripers...one bluefish that got off after i got it close enough to see it- one small speck...

any flounder over 12 inches? Where and how did you catch them??

The biggest was 13 inches- I caught it on a 1/4 oz flat head jig with chartreuse 4 inch Gulp curly tail slowly dragged across the botton at the first marker inside the inlet before you get to the tour boat mooring- just about where the rock rip raps are- I was actually drifting taking a redfish off my Revo/ Blair Wiggins Flats Blue outfit when I noticed the UL spinning rod was bent over- I thought it was hung up on the bottom- I'd rather be lucky than good...

Posted my pictures from the Nikon AW100...I like the quality and the size of the camera- it fits my hand nicely- a lot better than the Fuji Film F10- it was too slick and odd shaped to hold with wet hands- it would slip and without the strap it would have been lost- not so with the Nikon.

Nice pic, Ron. Waiting for your feedback on your HD videos. Looks like the best price on the AW100 is $300......hmmmm.....I do like the small compact size.

Tufnik, I have that camera at home. I bought it last year to replace the current one you have. The HD videos are nice and much better than the old camera. My only issue with that
camera is the pictures it takes can be over exposed sometimes in auto setting.
