Eastern Bay fishing Fri 10-3

I am unable to fish the CBKA tournament on Sat. I do plan to come to the events on Fri afternoon and evening to say hello. My primary kayak (Native Manta Ray) is currently out of commission with major cracks while waiting for a response from Native. My backup kayak does not allow me a very long sitting time. As a result, I will not bring my kayak on Fri afternoon.

However, unless the weather goes sour overnight, I do plan to trailer my 16' Scout center console ("Small but Perky") to Kent Island on Fri morning. I will launch at the Shipping Creek ramp (3-4 miles south of Camp Wright) some time around 10:00 am (I am at the mercy of a plumbing contractor who is supposed to come "first thing in the morning"). I would most likely be back to the ramp by 3:00 pm and would drive to Camp Wright at that point. Launching there allows access to nearly all of Eastern Bay and Poplar Island. Many of these spots are not practical to reach by kayak, but unless the waves are too high, they can be reached readily in my boat. I have an outboard motor and an electric trolling motor for working shorelines and structure.

I have space for one other angler if anyone would like to join me. Please send me a pmail by 9:00 pm tonight. This is offered on a first-come basis.

Since nobody wanted to go with me today in Eastern Bay, I ended up fishing from Sandy Pt this morning. The water was pretty rough for a 16' boat (1.5 to 2 ft waves). I returned to an area south of Sandy Pt where I did well yesterday. Because of the rougher conditions today, it was hard to keep the boat where I wanted it to be, and I did not stay out very long. I managed to catch about 10 rockfish to 12" and several bluefish to 17".
