  • PLO on Sat anyone?

Going to hit up PLO on Sat. I think the park opens at 6am, sunrise at 6:54, high tide at 7:30am, low tide at 1:00pm. At the launch by 6:30am.

New water for me..hopefully puppy drum, trout, croaker, blues, striper and maybe a keeper flounder.

    Any takers?

    Game plan:

6:00 - Tacklebox for spinner arms

6:15 - minnows for bait with trap and hot dogs - maybe throw the net a few times.

    6:30 - launch

    Points, jetties, inlet, drop offs

    Gulp, spoons, cranks, minnows, live-lining

The last time I was there, I caught croaker/flounder by paddling straight out from the launch inlet. Started picking up croaker in 18-20 ft of water and flounder around 25-28 ft near the buoy. I've heard of people catching them right in the water you launch at too so it's worth trying that too before you go out too far and if the water is too rough on the main stem.

just letting you know. they're open before 6am as well. it's just honor system for payment. also, if you go when there is a person working at the front gate they charge per person on saturday (and pay on re-entry). so if you plan on fishing for a long time bring food, bait, tackle, ice, etc so you don't have to leave.

also... don't know how long you plan on fishing, but PLO has always been good sunset/night time.

Don't forget to checkt the drop off by the yellow NOAA Bouy... there is a hole to the east of it and a nice drop off right as you get there. That was always my croaker spot. You may see some of the boulders as well on your fish finder but I have a hard time finding them
              Used to fish more.

If the afternoon weather holds I might head down to fish the afternoon incoming tide. Get there about 11 and fish till dark.

Nice, I'm bringing a minnow trap so if you have a minnow bucket we'll have the option to load up on some bait.
