Needs some advice

I have my 12ft jon boat bought from craigslist and now im looking for some good places to take her out to. I was considering the Potomac river in the Indian head area. Just wanted to get some opinions from people that have fished there and know how the water is if its worth the trip.

Jon boats aren't even a little bit seaworthy. I'd stay off the river except on a dead calm day. Your boat is more suited to mattawoman creek above Indian Head, There's a free launch at Mattingly Park that suits a jon. Local fish are LM bass, crappie and assorted catfish, maybe even a snakehead. Pretty good fishing up there, have fun.

Hate to burn your ears but I gotta agree with the two guys above me ^^. My Co-worker has 14 ft johnboat and when there is the least bit of chop I would take my Yak over his Jboat anyday....especially when it gets real bumpy. Since you have the Jboat I'd start out at places closest to home and work my way outwards. Whereabouts is your base location?

didn't mean to dampen your day, Id check out the upper Patuxent, I had a 12 ft flat bottom when I was younger and I had my best days up there.
