Wifey bought me a new Shad Jig Head Mold from Do-IT. I figure that I can save a few $'s with doing it myself and making the colors I want. Also got my MUCH ANTICIPATED Queen Anne's County Yearly Ramp permit. I got tired of paying $10 each time I went over the bridge. Just one question, Can I still use it at Mattapeake and Romancoke??? They are not listed on the paperwork as the places that I can use that permit. I can be happy launching at crab alley and some of the other locations and be happy, but I would still like to use it at Mattapeake. I launched there about 5 times this year alone.

I like the go pro best for pictures instead of the video. To get the hero shots with the fish.

I made out very well. Here's the gifts I got from various folks.

            1. Visicarbon Flag Pole Light. The non-collapsable type that fits into a flush mount rod holder tube.
            2. A 4 inch section of Yakattack gear trac. Hopefully to mount a camera to.
            3. An anchor trolley rigging kit.
            4. A bunch of cool lures. Some Mann's Baby-1's, a Lucky Craft Sammy 85, a Lucky Craft Waketail 85, and some Strike King KVD Sexy Dawg's.
            5. Plus a light weight and flexible 72 inch B'n'M super sensitive fishing rod.

              - My daughter gave me my new 2013 PA non-res fishing license. So I'll be back chasing smallies this summer/fall on the Susky up at Harrisburg.
              - Other daughter gave me a BPS gift card so I can update my antiquated lure selection for Susky smallies... gotta buy a few more shallow running Rapalas so I can fish those shallow rock-fields where the big fish hide and the big boats can't get to during low summer flow.

Here's the gifts I got to outfit my Outback in 2013:
                - Lowrance Elite 4x DSI
                - Seal Line Waterproof Iphone Case
                -GoPro Hero2 Remote

One Question: Would it be worth paying the extra $100 for the gps feature on the combo Lowrance? I use the navionics app on my phone now which seems to work great but if anyone has the Elite 4x combo let me know what you think. Thanks!

Well, my self-gifting is about complete. I'm ready for heavy seas. NRS waterproof top, Hodgman waders, Gloves, headgear and finished installing the Lowrance X4 Pro yesterday. (Dont waste your money on an inboard installation kit). Two Hobie rod holders, one on each fwd gunwale and a home made 11/4" CPVC three rod holder that fits in-between the two aft rod holders. I also fabricated two swivel outriggers as part of the CPVC getup. album pics to follow. Hope all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the 2013 fishing season. I know I am!

                    Shane -

I was wrestling with that choice last fall. Most on this board encouraged me to get a unit with GPS (of course it is always easier spending someone else's money). I did get a combination FF/GPS unit (actually I relocated the unit from my power boat -- it is a Lowrance LMS 527, not an Elite 4 series). I'm glad I have the GPS capability now. If you are fishing places other than shallow water familiar spots (like the Severn creeks), it is helpful to know the bottom cartography and figure out where you are in relationship to holes, slopes, mounds, etc. I also enjoy having real-time information on speed and distance that displays continuously on my sonar screen as an overlay. Most GPS units can be set up to leave a track. If you drift or troll over and area and catch fish, you can follow your track back to the same spot.

If the difference to add GPS is only $100, and you plan to keep the unit for at least several years, I suggest that you upgrade.

Thanks John. That was my thought too that $100 for GPS capability is worth it. See you on the water soon.

I didn't get any actual yak gear...which is cool, but I DID get $200. With that loot, I plan to upgrade my fish finder. Going to purchase the Humminbird 386ci DI sometime soon. I'll be posting my PiranhaMax 190c for sale soon as well.
