        no there is a hole for a sail on all hobies.

        But it looks like it's pretty damaged and without the mirage drive that explains the price.

          I wonder if that kayak might have been a Hurricane Sandy casualty. Maybe washed a couple miles away from the owner and got the crap beat out of it in the process. The guy just found it and is trying to sell it. Who knows for sure.

          If he is referring to the big hole that I think he is, then the kayak must have been a square rigger clipper kayak.

            With the work that it needs, I would not give him more than $200 for it, considering you can get a new one on sale with mitage drive, warranty, etc for $1300. or even a 1 yr old used one for that price.

            With the hull selling for $500 and the Mirage drive new might be close to that, you are already approaching $1000. Now you have to fix the rudder and worry about the patched hole, get the missing pocket netting, etc. Not worth $500.

              I know when I got my new Hobie under warranty and gave BYB my old one they cut a big hole right in the side about that size.

              That is a really bad looking patch job.

                it looks like the serial number was cut out...right where that patch is.
