  • Pickerel catching lecture - Jan 28

A few weeks ago I was asked by a member of the southern Maryland chapter of CCA if I would give them a presentation on catching pickerel in tidal waters. I agreed to do this, and will meet with their members in Solomons on Jan 28. The notice is shown below.

For those of you unable to attend, if you would like a copy of my presentation, send me a pmail including your email address.

    Pickerel topic for fishing meeting

John Veil, a veteran Chesapeake Bay angler who targets pickerel during the winter months, will be the speaker at the Monday, Jan. 28, meeting of the Coastal Conservation Association Maryland’s (CCA MD) Patuxent River Chapter. The meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. at Stoney’s Kingfisher in Solomons, is free and open to the public. Attendees can order from Stoney’s menu at 6 p.m.

Pickerel frequent many of the Chesapeake’s feeder streams, including Allen’s Fresh, during the winter months and provide exciting light tackle and fly fishing for recreational anglers. Veil will demonstrate equipment for pickerel and discuss strategies and locations for catching them. CCA MD is also running a catch and release Pickerel Challenge, and more information can be found on that at http://www.ccamd.org/?p=1043.

      John,
Good luck with and have fun at the presentation. It is very nice to share your passion and knowledge. I don't think I can attend. The place is too far away from me.

Coincidently, today, I agree to present my own kayak-fishing /making fishing video experiences when I was approached by NoVA CCA. I will be preparing the materials and am excited to share the wonderful kayak-fishing experiences with the people in my area

One of the pickerel scenes (from my first pickerel 101 class field trip) will be shown during the presentation.

      Again, have fun!
      Joe

pmail is another name for private message. To use the feature, click on a poster's name at the top of a post. You get a drop-down box that allows you to choose several options.

          Joe -

Congratulations on getting asked to present to the Northern VA chapter of CCA. You have a great deal of experience -- I'm sure they will appreciate it.
