how would you get to this spatterdock or slavins dock on mattawoman? can you fish onshore? I've been to smallwood park and fished for LB off the docks..catch and release with lures during the spring and gone down to mattingly avenue park as well near the naval base. did see the kayak rental place but its usually closed..would like directions to scout the area out..thanks

Mattingly Park is Slavens dock (thats what they used to call it) The only real way to get out to the spatterdock is by boat or kayak. The kayak rental place is open friday-sat-sun during the summer. You can also call and reserve a time to get a kayak and they'll meet you down there (any day of the week).

Smallwood park is a good place to fish, however, that is one of the main boat launches in the area for power boats and it gets busy!
