Yeah, you're right! DNR will be stocking trout any day now- last week of February, first week of March is when I start eating Browns and Rainbows....yumm...

Hey Ron, I have never fished for trout and I was wondering if it is a wading type only thing or are there areas you can use a kayak?

Yeah, Jim- there are a number of locations- DNR lists them all and the schedule-

We have a few in Southern Maryland- Bill, Kevin, Moc and I fished them several times last year- I limited out twice-5 fish limits

The first trout stocking is the start of my fishing season. I usually fish deer creek in harford county and gunpowder river in Baltimore county. I volunteered one year to help stock. We scoop them out of the truck with five galLon buckets. A few rainbows were over two feet, I made it point to fish the location it was released. Just look for the put and take notices stapled on the trees. That are usually the locations where we empty out the buckets of trout. I usually limit out in less than an hour.

I'm going to try it this year from the kayak. I've always fished from the shore for trout. Let me know when and where.

That's interesting... I too have only fished for trout from shore... Do you guys anchor and still fish with power bait?
