  • Occoquan Saturday 2/9

I'm about 80% heading out to the Occoquan again this coming Saturday. The temperature will range from 32 to 41 during the day. Here are the tide estimates:
    Low 12:14 AM -0.2
    High 5:50 AM 1.6
    Low 12:27 PM -0.2
    High 6:13 PM 1.7

I'll probably be there closer to 8:30am and be on the water within the half hour...

    Anyone interested?

Yeah its a real let down. I can't wait till I get my license in August and hit up areas daily. But as always I have to work and do schoolwork.

I am out of town, but I will be back tomorrow. I wonder if it will be better to catch to the afternoon incoming time after the water warms up. It seem that the last few reports that I saw, the fishing picked up after the water warmed up. The fish seemed to bite even at low tide! So if I go, I will be inclide to go for 12 or 1pm.

My best experience has been more to do with the outgoing tide than water temperature... I'm only choosing to go early because of the tide estimates. The last times the bite picked up was with the start of outgoing tides which happened to be around noon on those days.

That is true. From your experience it seems that they like to feed on the outgoing tides, although Martin does speak some truth because I remember last time we were out with Joe I caught them during high tide at noon while we didn't catch anything in the morning at low tide. Anyway I am trying to convince my parents to let me go but most likely not...Good luck guys!

                        Hey all,

I think I might be able to join you, if that's ok? I haven't fished for crappie in a while, but I used to catch them pretty well in Georgia.

                        Would you recommend bringing jigs?

                        Any other recommendations?

                        Thanks!

Of course you can join us bro!

I've had a lot of luck with 4# test, 1/16 jig with a red and chartreuse tube.... and some smelly jelly (bass feast scent) of course...

So far I'm still about 80% but should definitely know tomorrow. If not Saturday then most likely Sunday...
