Some will take a golf umbrella with them fishing. They will fish into the wind and use the umbrella to return. There are actually chute type sails made for kayaks, that just set up.

^i've thought about doing that with a beach umbrella, one that has a tilt mechanism, when i'm crabbing and for the ride back.

how do you crab from your kayak? is it a hobie?

i just hand line chicken necks off each side of the yak while anchored(i catch enough for me, couple dozen in a couple hours). if you do a search, a few guys can feed a family reunion using traps and even trot lines from the yak!

That's the way to defeat one of the benefits of a kayak, exercise be damned.
