  • Occoquan on Saturday 2/16

I'm thinking about hitting the Occoquan Sat morning to see if I can catch some crappie. I'm really wanting to get out and get on the water.

Anybody want to join or have any other suggestions about a good place to fish on Saturday?

If anyone lives close and can give a report to the water clarity Friday, I may go depending on the report.

Today before the rain came in it was still brown. I drive over it every day so I will try and give an update Friday but you can assume it will be muddy. It hasn't realy cleard up at all in a few weeks now. Last Sunday I went up by the dam and it was still flowing strong over the rocks.

I hear ya, the river has been a mess for a while now. It seems to rain every fewdays just enough tokeepit muddy. Good luck Monday.

Has anyone who's been to Occoquan this winter looked for water with better visibility? Like up near the damn? Last time I went I was thinking about the fish possibly moving to somewhere they can see better, but I didn't want to waste the time paddling up there just to find more brown water.

I might have seen you as I drove by earlier. We're you jigging that deep hole?

It's likely that it was me. I was trying to jig up some yellow perch if they were around.

                        Sun,

It was nice to meet you out on the water! I stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and didn't get any bites. Marked fish on the finder but no luck.

Nice meeting you too. Your story sounds just like mine. Lots of marks, no bites .

Still beats sitting in the house . How'd you like your new boat?

Definitely beats getting out of the house, I had a blast, just seeing all the ducks and geese.

The Revo is great! Still got a few things left to do on it, but for the first time out, I was amazed at how easy I adjusted to the boat.

I don't know the next time I'll be out, due to work being busy, but I work in Annapolis, and could always meet there and fish for pickerel or perch, and hopefully rockfish soon!

I got out on the Occoquan today 10:00-1:00. The Water was stained and ice had formed near the docks. The water temp was between 38-39 degrees. I managed to catch 6-7 crappie on white/red tube and white grub at a depth of 12 ft Unfortunately, they were only hitting underneath the I-95 bridge closest to the south bank which meant no sun. I also used smelly jelly and minnow scent bio edge stick.
