  • Feedback on Garmin Echo 100 Fishfinders

As some of you may know I have been looking for a fishfinder and I have gotten some really good advice. I have talked to others and seeing as I am still in high school I shouldn't be spending a lot of money on a fishfinder at this point. At the moment I am getting ready to buy one and am looking for the cheapest but adequate model to use. At the moment I am leaning towards the Garmin Echo 100 due to its price but am unsure about its quality despite its reviews on amazon. So I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model or the garmin brand in general.

On a different note is it necessary to have a fishfinder that reads deeper than 600' or at least has anyone fished at deeper than 600'.

    Any feedback would be helpfull.

    Thanks,

i've never used garmin fish finders but when I bought my lowrance, the guys at Bass Pro did not have many good things to say about the garmins.

i would look at the lowrance elite 4 series.

I have 2 garmin 150s that worked great form me I would let one go pretty cheap if you like. But I also went with the lowrance Elite 4 DSI for the different features.

You might try posting a willing to buy (wtb) thread on this site for a fish finder. Winter is upgrade season and someone may have one they would sell you at a discount.

Thanks for the tip I will most likely do that right now. I guess you can never know what might show up.
