Looking like we will have to wait at least another week before there is any hope of warmer spring weather- the long range forecast looks like 10-12 degrees below normal for the next eight to ten days- cabin fever has a lot of us pushing the envelope- fish are there, but the cold keeps them with sluggish appetites and not chasing lures- got to hit them in the mouth to get a bite-

Sorry to rub it in -- but I arrived in Galveston, TX yesterday afternoon for a conference. My hotel room has a view of the Gulf. Yesterday was the end of spring break, so there were plenty of coeds in bikinis. It was not as scenic as my trips to Ipanema Beach in Rio, but compared to the Maryland weather, it was not too bad.
I won't have any time to fish on this trip, although I visited a local fishing pier yesterday afternoon. They were catching catfish, whiting, and I saw one nice pompano get caught.John Veil

More time to fish the WWDs... if anybody knows of a kayak accessible WWD in the area and is willing to share, PM me the details. I might go try out the one I know of in the Patapsco. The last couple times I went there, I was either unable to find it, or it was off. I hear there are several other WWDs around there.

The Patapsco WWDs are had a disappointing winter. I had 2 modestly successful trips to the HH-WWD in January. I caught fish but nearly all of them were in the mid teens, topping out at about 18"s. I only caught two that were in the low/mid 20"s. Three more trips during February and all were total royal skunks. Others guys are reporting poor results at other Patapsco WWDs. Although there have been reports of brief, short-lived flare-ups of action but by the next day they are gone and not to be found. So, the Patapsco WWDs have been a total craps shoot this winter.Howard
