  • Noob from PG county

Hello fellow kayakers. I got into kayak fishing a little over two years ago after fishing from the shore for ten years and watching the guys out on the water catching all the fish. I have a Future Beach, Trophy 126, 10.5 ft and just big enough to move easily. I fish mostly ponds and lakes but have been up on the Potomac river a few times. I look forward to meeting some of your members and catching some fish.

    Michael

Cash Lake when it is open, Artemesia when they have canoe and kayak days. The others are in MC and HC, Centennial, Needwood and Elkhorn. Do you know any others in the area?

Good deal. I live right by Lake Artemesia but haven't had the chance to go during the open kayak days but have always wanted to go. That place is almost unfishable from the shore during the summer after the lilypads get going.

You can kayak Greenbelt (Buddy Attick) lake also. There is a little stone area to the left of the damn by the cattails I launch from that is nice and low to the water.

I plan on focusing a lot on Cash Lake this summer also. I didn't get to go last year but have seen pictures of nice fish pulled from there.

                      Neil,
I would go out on Greenbelt Lake but only residents of GB with a permit are allowed, and it is a long drag from the parking lot. Caught a bass and three gills in the corner by the dam there last week.

You may have seen me at Artemesia, up until last year when I fished there I would have my red and white Corgi with me.

As for Cash Lake I really shouldn't say much about it because sometimes when I stop there on the way home from work I am the only one there, shore or float. So keep it to your self...okay.

I didn't realize Greenbelt was set up that way. Thanks for the info!

I actually do believe I have seen you at Lake Artemesia. I usually fly fish when I am there and fish the narrow channel between the two sections of the lake. There is another gentlemen I have spoken with who fishes there a bunch. His name is Mike. I could not get over the huge crappie he caught there (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries...le.asp?ID=2629).
