Anyone know of any nearby campgrounds that do permit alcohol? Me and a couple buddies usually like to get away once every spring and fall for a night or two.

Last couple of times we went to Elk Neck but were stopped by rangers for possession of beer. Not like we're rowdy or loud during quiet time, guessing we stick out due to our age.

None that I know of permit it, since its mostly statewide policy. We (me, myt, & foursteps) camped at kipto and was approached by the ranger about that. (guessing we stuck out due to our age as well...along with...welll yeah). He just requested we keep it out of view, in our tents. The use of cups, soda bottles, or any other container works just the same. They can really act/react on the sight of alcoholic beverage containers.

red solo cups. or some type of fast food cup, so long as you don't mind drinking out of a straw.

Those things always depend on how you all are acting. Sitting quietly around the fire, no check. Loud, younger and disturbing, they perform a check.

I've had them check when it was just my girlfriend at the time and myself. I think its definitely profiling the age.

Primitive campgrounds allow alcohol. I talked to a park ranger a year or so ago. Said pretty much you can do what ever you want there, they only check to see if you paid. And the chances someone visits you at your site is pretty rare. The ranger at swallow falls said he always kicks those Guys out and sends them to the primitive site down the road. He said that as we were being removed from the camp site lol.
