Its a gravel road. There is one large hill you have to traverse, other than that, it is a pretty level road. I believe the hours are currently something like 9-5 on weekends and 9-4 on Mondays and Fridays, all other days it is closed until the summer season starts.Fishing adds years to your life, and life to your years.

Shadyfisher,
This would be a great place to launch if not for the long tow and big hill. HOWEVER, there is a loophole! There is handicapped parking right down at the beach. SOMEONE on this forum must have a handicapped placard. If I keep going I could get one for my morbid obesity.
But all kidding aside if someone with PU with handicapped permit hauled yaks down there it would be an awesome day on the water. There is lots of good ground there by calvert cliffs and some good current too.14.5 ft Sand colored Malibu X-Factor "the promise"

I ahve been to flag ponds many times surf fishing and beachcombing for petrified shark teeth. I usually saw people kayaking from the private development up the bay. It would be great if there was a launch site there. I'd be tempted to drag yak down....but up, especially after long day fishing, would be a bear. If they'd let us drop boats at the handicapped parking area, it would be a very very short drag to beach, maybe 25 yrds. So if someone would just shoot themselves in the foot we could all get fishing.14.5 ft Sand colored Malibu X-Factor "the promise"

Well if you arent actually parking there whats wrong with unloading at the handicapped lot and parking in the upper lot? Fish with a buddy, haul 2 yaks on one vehicle, one waits with the kayaks, one takes the vehicle to the upper lot. actually fished there with walleye pete a couple weeks ago and have been formulating my plan ever since

I've tried to talk them into that unsuccessfully. They have to unlock the gate on the access rd for the handicapped guys, otherwise you could drop and dash. Maybe someone who works for parks could suggest it but I got nowhere.14.5 ft Sand colored Malibu X-Factor "the promise"

Your best bet to get permission would be to call and petition to Battle Creek Nature Center. Flag Ponds is managed through that location. The rule of only letting cars with handicapped tags through is relatively new. I can remember when they used to let cars through to unload, as long as they would park up top.Fishing adds years to your life, and life to your years.

This is the same exact story for Swan Harbor in Havre de Grace, an excellent launching point for the southern susky flats or swan creek. It's about a half mile to the beach, downhill entering...uphill leaving. Handicapped parking is available at the launch site, but the access road is gated. I have spoken to the ladies in the office and my jedi mind trick did not persuade successfully. Besides the driftwood, the launch is perfect. There is even a huge pier with a fish cleaning station and running water.2015 OLIVE HOBIE OUTBACK

I worked there a few years ago and would let people down there every now and then, can't tell you who even works there now or if they would be lenient for the yakkers of the world. Best bet might be to work something out with Battle Creek.Fishing adds years to your life, and life to your years.

Of course there is more to do in that local than fish the CCNPP, especially in summer.14.5 ft Sand colored Malibu X-Factor "the promise"
