New Member and Yak Fishing Rookie

Hello everyone, my name is Mike and i am really glad to have finally found this site. I just started getting into yak fishing, or kayaking in general this past spring. I purchased a perception caster 12 from dicks and just did some basic outfitting with the standard milkcrate tackle/rodholder setup, a fish finder, extra scotty rod holders etc. I wasnt very adventurous this year as i mainy fished loch raven reservoir with it and took it to rock pt. park and fished around the hart miller island complex and out into the bay there. Didnt have much luck but did get a great first taste of what fishing the bay can be like as i got caught in some sloppy conditions a few times. anyway I am getting my yak rigged and ready to fish the bay fulltime come this spring. hoping to fish the bay bridge quite a bit and would love to find some buddy boats to learn the ropes from. looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Welcome. Possibly you should try to make the meet and greet this month and see everyone's kayaks. This will be my first meet and greet. I know I will enjoy seeing all the different ideas.

Welcome, Mike! This is a great site. You'll find lots of help here.

As Dogfish mentions we have our monthly meet and greet on Saturday. Got a great turnout of at least a dozen guys this weekend. We do this every 2nd Saturday. Someone "volunteers" to be the organizer, selects a launch location, runs any interference with the launch site owner and then we get together for lunch. It's been going on since August! Hope to see you there!
