CBBT sounds more iffy to me. I did a couple of boat trips this past couple of weeks, and the togs we caught were 100 to 200 ft of water where the temp was about 50 or above. The forum reports of togs being caught are also from boaters fishing deep water. The deepest part along the CBBT from VB shore to the 1st island is about 50-60 ft. It gets deeper beyond the 1st island.Last edited by tufnik; 04-09-2013, 05:08 PM.2015 Hobie Outback (yellow)

Oh, another thing. If you've never been to CBBT, please watch out for the rips. They can be pretty strong, not to mention they can make piling fishing tough (hard to hold position).
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrppppppppppppppppp....................o ops.............sorry...........just had some golden fried tog with Korean spicy soup.............man, it was really good....
Anyway, never can tell what you're going to catch. I'll probably start toggin' in a week or so. Looking forward to your report.2015 Hobie Outback (yellow)

Ok, so here's my plan....
I'm already planning to head to OC next weekend to hunt Turkeys with my cousin. So since it's a short two hour drive from OC to Kipto, I will hunt Friday morning and fish Friday afternoon, hopefully getting to kipto by noon. I could also potentially fish Saturday afternoon. so that's 4/19-4/20. Who's with me!?!?
Or I could try toggin in OC, but I've had pretty much zero luck fishing in OC....

I'll be at the Flats Kayak Jamboree as well that weekend.
I'm seriously considering going this weekend though... only 2 things can stop me... one of them is wind.

Today's water temp at Kipto was 55, prime temp for tog activity. Forecasted air temp in the next few days is 55-80 deg. So, you guys may have a field day this weekend.Last edited by tufnik; 04-10-2013, 07:05 PM.2015 Hobie Outback (yellow)

They're selling blue crabs at the dc fish market (probably from louisiana or texas). I might go down there friday night and see if they'll give me a bunch of dead ones.

Nice. The tog are hungry all over the place!
I'm now definitely going to kipto on saturday, with my dad. We'll use my tandem hobie oasis. Curious to see how it does around the concrete ships.
I had trouble sleeping last night with all the togcitement. I have to get my tog rigs ready...
