This is half report/half desperate plea for help.
4/6: Determined not to chase reports, I thought I would get out and make reports. I got off to a little bit of a later start than I wanted to, leaving the house at 8:00 (and not 6:30 like I planned). Not a big deal I thought, I will give the sun a chance to warm the water a bit. A few quick stops for gas and breakfast and I was on my way to the Flats. Or so I thought.
Help Section:
The issue I encountered is well described here (actually, its eerily similar, including my talk with the security guard at Father Ashley's rehab): http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...695-Swan-Creek
I would like to think that I can follow written directions. And when that fails, I can follow a GPS. I must be far stupider than I thought. I couldn't for the life of me find Eleanor and Millard Tyidngs Park or Swan Harbor Farm. (I did find Swan Harbor Farm, but it hardly looked like a kayak/cartop launch...rather an older looking building and farmland).
Has anyone found and launched from either of these places?
Back to the report:
I spent an hour driving around/exploring the back roads of Harford County. I drove over to the City Yacht Basin/Millard J. Tydings Memorial Park but that looked kinda crowded. I ended up crossing the bridge and launching from Perryville Community Park/Stump Point.
I've never fished the flats before but there are two things that come to mind immediately: 1. Damn, this is a lot of water. This looks smaller on the maps/charts/walleye pete's map 2. Its incredibly shallow out here (in some areas).
I found some areas of very clear water with great visibility. It didnt help that, for some reason, my FF didnt work today. (Ill recheck the wiring tonight). X-rap and hot-rodded BKD all day. Nothing.
I didnt use the gps today, so I would be guessing how many miles i traveled but i was everywhere. Not much to show for it.
Ill be back later this week.
