Please talk me out of a Hobie!!

Get a pro angler if you want a fishing work horse. All the room and storage you need n then some. Even for freshwater fishing it's great. You can take 6-8 rods. Which I do. And all my bass tackle. I still have room for the net. And scale and hang trowel. I stand up NO problem. I've stood n fished in prolly 2ft seas as well. And I've taken it in 6-8 inches of water


All I do is freshwater fish n occasionally venture for white perch. Rarely out in the bay. But the PA is outstandforingfor everythinggggg. I'd jus get that and call it away. The outback and revo are nice dont get me wrong. But ur gaining a solid foot of space in your width to manuver and put things.

Although the Tarpon is a fantastic kayak, you will not be disappointed in a Hobie. Honestly, if you can figure out a way, keep the tarpon and get a Hobie too. I love the tarpon for smaller shallower waters where the hobie is not the best.

Well, done gots me a new Olive Outback! Going to pick it up Sunday from Backyard Boats in Annapolis. I am going to keep the Tarpon stored outside nicely covered, unless I feel the financial burden of the Hobie.

I am going to be rollin barebones for a while with the Hobie, but the wheels are already turning.

Congrats. Why the Outback and not Revo?

I originally wanted the revo 13 because of the speed and it seemed the revo was getting better reviews on handling. What do I need the speed for...I am not racing anyone and you can only troll so fast. Some reviews compared the outback to driving a barge or a styrofoam cup filled with water??

I like the stability of the outback and the weight capacity is 400lbs, that means I can keep on eating my cheesesteaks. I want a fishing platform and the outback just fits my needs. Plus my tarpon is 12 ft and the outback is same length, so it will fit perfectly in my sling in the garage.

Congrats! Ron and I had the same debate over a year and half ago. Outback vs Revo. I initially wanted the Revo, but when I sat in both yaks at Backyard Boats, that did it for me. The Outback felt much more comfortable and "enclosed." I also preferred a stable and roomy platform (didn't need speed; who am I racing?). The hull slap and "barge feeling" concerns are over-rated.......it becomes a non-issue once you use the yak. I (as well as Ron) am glad I chose the Outback. Not to put the Revo down, but you choose the yak for what you prefer.

The slight difference in speed between a Revo and an Outback might make a difference in a four mile sprint, but an Outback is no slouch in speed-
