Hit IRI Saturday with Glen in our Hobie Outbacks. The rock ate the spot like Candy, and boated at least 6, all 24 inches. The limit is 2 @ 28 so no keepers but a lot of fun. We got on the water about 9 am right as the tide was starting to head out. Fished the wall all day. The tog didnt turn on until just about slack tide and we caught several then as well. All small, maybe 13 the biggest. Most guys in boats thought we were nuts but its easy to fish the wall. But if a fish pulls you out into the current, its a tiring trip getting back. Going to the in-laws Sat, and planning on fishing Wed, Th am and Fri am if anyone can get down. Let me know.

Which wall did you fish? By the marina where people TOG...or the wall closest to route 1 bridge...near the coast guard station?
A fisherman died there 3 months ago when he slipped on a rock and fell in. They never found his body. Reports indicated that the current most likely carried it out to sea...quickly!
Thanks for the report!

It was the Coast Guard wall and its not uncommon for someone to get killed in the inlet. Many times its a guy on the rocks, slips and falls with no PFD and hits a rock on the way in. I've fished the inlet numerous times in my boat and have learned some of the current patterns. But on the yak I have an auto inflate pfd that i wear. Clipped to it is radio, plb, flares, whistles, dyepak, mirrors and a c light. I also sit on a throwable pfd. The inlet can be done safely fro a yak. But you also have to be careful of the boat traffic. Lots of different types of fish and you can catch them all within minutes of launching.
