Worth a shot for bass or skip em? I work right around the corner from this one and could shore fish it on lunch - https://maps.google.com/maps?q=39.17...num=1&t=h&z=19

Google Maps labels it as General Electric Retention Pond

Don't hurt to try. Just tried fishing one in my neighborhood for the first time a few weeks ago and caught three bass.

Worth a shot. As long as it holds water all year round fish seem to find a way into them.

These can often hold the biggest bass because no one thinks to fish them, but they are almost always stocked with some kind of fish. I fish one in in my neighborhood and have caught bass, sunfish, perch and crappie. The sunfish are so thick you can practically walk across them.

To answer your question I believe it depends on how much water it holds...many are designed to hold to hold just a couple feet until a storm arrives. With that said, there are a couple in the Montgomery County Airpark that hold fish. I am going to give this one in Frederick a try (from shore)...its next to my mechanic and I have to p/u my vehicle. I will provide a report if I have success.

Have you ever fished any of the fire ponds above cunningham falls lake? When I was stationed up on the hill in catoctin park we used to fish a few regularly. Good bass and crappies, but the bluegills were all small. Best we found was to the left of Old Mink Farm Rd. This was when they were still clearing ground for the lake - 67 thru 69
