I was thinking of taking a half day on Friday and fishing the Susquehanna for white perch. I have seen good reports online, and I am not able to fish any other time is weekend. Planning on launching off the Lapidum Boat Ramp around 2-3pm. This will be my first time launching this far up the river...anyone is welcome to join, temps look great but showing a breeze on windfinder.com

If spots are deep enough, I was planning on using a top and bottom rig with night crawler or blood worms with 1-2 ounce weight. Anything 10ft or shallower I was going artificial. Either shad darts, small spoons, or 2" grubs and jig head. I have waded in this area only, so it will be an learning experience for myself also. I will be 100% sure if I can make it on Wed/Thurs.

I waded the Susky today for a while at the Rock Run Mill, and got desperate, so I tried the dam for a few minutes.
Normally I wouldn't get near the dam during shad season.
The power generation hotline called for the water to start coming up between 8-9:00. Wrong.
When I got there, what is usually a riffle with decent current was a lake.
I saw a few smallish White Perch being caught, and they were still catching a few shad at the dam after the Power company finally started running water around 10:00, but not me and not today.
Except for one monster day at Rock Run, it has been a rather disappointing shad season.
Time to put away the shad tackle and get the perch bag out.
