  • CCA Light Tackle Tournament - June 1st 2013

It's that time of year again when CCA MD holds the annual fly and light tackle tournament. There is a separate category for kayakers and it is definitely an event to check out! I've fished in it the past two years and while I failed to catch anything noteworthy I have thoroughly enjoyed the event each year. Unfortunately, I have other plans this year and I will not be able to make it.

The entry fee covers your lunch (and beers!), a cool Under Armor fishing shirt, and a 1yr membership to CCA!

Here's the site for more details - http://www.ccamd.org/?p=1768

Where do you guys launch for the tournament? Or is it launch anywhere and check in at the Jetty bar? Is trolling crankbaits on bass gear considered light tackle?

Shady, I think it's launch anywhere as long as you make weigh-in at the Jetty. I've fished the bridge and the narrows the past two years with mediocre results. Plenty of rockfish up to 15" but nothing larger. I believe to place, it has to be a legal fish as in 18"+. Trolling cranks on light rods should be considered light tackle, but bait is out!
