  • Post your fishing plans for Saturday, The and Monday Memorial Weekend.

I am guessing that a lot of people will be able to get on the water this weekend and the weather looks like you might cooperate. Please post your plans so everyone can find someone to fish with.

Sunday and Monday look like it might be do-able- Today and Saturday winds are a problem...FEDEX delivered my ACK package yesterday with my replacement Hog Trough I lost two weeks ago at St. J's Creek fighting those damn rays- got another care package coming from BPS with some soft plastic lures. Now I can take the wooden yardstick off my kayak I used last trip to measure stripers- Bill, Kevin and I are fishing somewhere Monday- still in the planning stages- only caveat is it has to be in St. Mary's County for them...but that is fine with me- lots of places there I want to fish- and it is only 55 miles from my house to PLO, so...

      Hey guys

I got a couple of questions about fishing Point Lookout, do you need a MD saltwater license to fish at PLO? Do they recognized the VA saltwater license? Would I need a MD saltwater license to fish at PLO?

I may be able to find My way to St. Mary's County. Let me know when you finalize your plans.

MD and VA have reciprocity for SW licensing. you just need to sign up in MD for the SW registry (free)

There's an easy mod to the hog trough to make it float. 3/8" dowel rod, glue, and caulk is all you need. cut the dowel rod to the length of the hog trough so it will fit snuggly in the two channels on the underside, glue the dowels rods in the channels, then cover with caulk. voila, it floats!

back to the original topic: I'm hoping to get out the flats monday if the water is improved by then. May take the wife and puppy out on weems creek sunday

Ryan- you gave me an idea- the packing that came with the Hog Trough is the slick, higher-density poly foam- I could take a razor knife and cut that to fit in the voids under the Hog Trough and use Elmer's Rubber cement to glue it in place- that definitely floats

That should work. I took some leftover Silent traction pads and put it on the bottom of my hawg trough and my floats now.

Rose Haven or Fishing Creek Sun/Monday

Looking to head out of either Rose Haven for stripers, (failing over to perch) or up fishing creek, where someone caught a snakehead last year, either Sun or Mon.

All depending on weather and tides...

PLO's about 1 hr away, not sure my car will stay under my 'yak that long.

A few of us are fishing the flats on Saturday and Sunday. C&R time is done, its one keeper per day now... Winds may not cooperate, but we'll see

If I can find enough shelter, I may kayak fish in the Severn on Sat and/or Sun. On Mon morning (assuming the winds hold to forecast and are calm then), I plan to splash my center console for the first time this year and do some bottom fishing at Hacketts, Tolleys, and maybe Thomas Pt. I have room for one person if anyone wants to go.

For your Hog Trough put a quick bead of spray foam in the in the bottom two tracks the excess cuts off easy when it dries. I can post so pics if you like. mine floats now.

John, I wish I was home I would go with you. I'm in Niagra, NY this weekend with my son for a hockey camp. Hope to stop in Andover, OH. On Monday to do some Walleye fishing with a friend.

NW winds 18-25 knots, going to need shelter and a bigger boat to fish. I think my Judge 22 may get the call this weekend but I will stay in the South or Severn River, lots of smalls out their now, I may jump up to some bigger bait to keep the smalls off the hook. The hot rig was a drop shot rig with 3 inch red/brown or purple finese type plain worm nose hooked on a 2/0 mosiquto hook but I suppose any #2/0 or similiar size will work.. rigged about 6 inches to 10 inches off the bottom.

John, I would not mind taking you up on your offer but this Sat/ Sun my fishing time will be very limited. I have been following snaggedline as a guest but just recently joined, lots of good info here
