I also had the same thing happen at sandy point about two weeks ago. I have a PA 12.I launched and went out to # 23 stayed out for 1.5hrs with no problems I decided to head in because of the incoming tide. on the way in It was like sitting on top of a ball. It was hard to keep upright and had to counter steer all the way in. I thought it was the running tide and it would get better once I got past the jetty inside the inlet, but hell no. The kayak became harder to steer and it went were It wanted to go . I got just to the last pylon of the boat docking area about 25-30 yards away from the first boat ramp and she went over dumping me in about 7-10 ft of water. A boater came over to help me while he was standing on the dock and it was almost impossible to upright the boat full of water. I lost 3 rods and two tackle boxes full of about $300.00 worth of lures. My daughter and I went back about a week later and had her dive in and feel around for my rods and she found one and I used that one rod which had a heavy spoon on it to fish the other rods out. but it got stranger. When I swam the boat over to the ramp and went to raise the bow to drain it I went to unscrew the plugs and they were out and hanging and I know for sure that I checked my plugs twice. Once before I take it off the car and again before I launch on my walk around check of the boat. I was out there for over an hour so if the plugs were out I would have had trouble earlier I would think I'm going to call Dennis at backyard boats to tell me how to proceed from here. This incident crushed my spirit not only to say how embarrassed I was.

I have read quite a few posts about kayaks being damaged by scupper hole carts. While I haven't used any myself, just seems to me that they aren't worth the risk. When I got my Ride 135, I felt the plastic of the scupper holes and it seems the plastic is thinner there than the rest of the kayak, possibly a weaker point to begin with. I did one of the DIY PVC cart builds where the kayak sits on top of two "rails" and it seems to be working fine for me so far. If I ever decide I need a different one, I think I will look at other options than the scupper hole carts.
