  • New Kayak club

I visited the pier and surf forum- seems like some Northern Virginia kayakers don't think this forum serves its members well and has suggested they are forming a new club- so far no takers-

Personally I believe this club serves the tri-state area fairly well. I am not familiar with Northern Virginia but I know there is a lot of water to cover...could be just growing pains for the fast growing sport of kayak fishing.

snaggedline's purpose is and always was basically Delmarva kayak fishing, with lower PA, WV, anyone who fishes, (have yaks, will travel!). Grilled and i have been working on a new layout, no big changes at all, but to tidy things up, i guess. i always liked to think we were a club.

We couldn't ask for a better "club" with nicer, more friendly folks than MKF-

Its all of matter of people from Northern Virginia participating. I read their posts, find them interesting too. Since I live in MD and have my licenses here, I prefer fishing here, not that I wouldn't try N. Va. if a good opportunity came up.

I agree about it being very friendly on here. You all have made me feel quite welcome.

I live in Newport News and doubt I will be able to fish some of the cool places in MD and NORVA I read about here anytime soon, but I like this forum. I have picked up a lot of good info here and it seems like everyone here is always willing to help each other (especially the newbs). I have noticed on one or two other forums, that until you make a name for yourself by catching a lot of fish and posting great pictures to the boards or a blog, the more experienced people will not give you much input until you are part of the "click". I haven't seen that here. With that being said, maybe as part of any new layout, the Virginia section can be split into a Tidewater area and and a Northern VA / Eastern Shore area. I think the guy on P&S was saying that there are plenty of postings of "get-togethers" here, just that they are mostly in MD or the VA Beach/Norfolk area.

Well we had an event for MAKBF at Occoquan Reservoir to try to spread out the events and get more VA guys there... and well, to say the least not many showed up.

Try Leesylvannia/pohick/mason neck and you might get more. I would of gone but those dates you have chosen ended up conflicting with my schedule. Next year!

That was the point though to not have every event in the tidal Potomac. It's the same fishing styles in md or va. Wanted the series to show an overall angler and not just an angler who catches fish in the tidal Potomac. But we might consider next year cause ideally we want more participation.
