So, I'm planning on hitting Mason Neck this week and did a search and came across this thread. Not to start a flame war, but, ronaultmtd you seem quite happy with the apparent "failure" of this club by pointing out no takers. And then to quote you, We couldn't ask for a better "club" with nicer, more friendly folks than MKF-....It seems those two statements contradict themselves. It was me and a buddy who decided to start this club, I didn't post any information here out of respect for this site. This is a great site with a ton of great information and I will continue to participate here as well. Do you think there is not enough room for another Kayak Fishing club? Sorry, I had to rant, but this whole thread just rubbed me the wrong way.Jeff

Does this mean we have to change the secret club handshake?
Seriously, Va is a big place. There is lots of great waters that are in Va. That are far from the geographical 'center' of MKF. I would applaud the new group. It can only be good for the sport.
There is a lot of Va water that is part of the Cheasapeake that would take a good many hours of driving for many of us to fish. A more local group makes sense for a cohesive group that would want to hook up and fish together frequently. I know my schedule doesn't include many weekend long trips.
Go for it you Va guys and best of luck. If you are as ice as his crew, you will prosper.Last edited by Runnin; 08-20-2013, 06:51 PM.Hurricane Skimmer 128

I agree Surf, but it is Baltimore , upper Chesapeake centric. Not many of you guys fish regularly in the Tidewater area. Once in a while maybe, but surely not often enough to hook up regularly.
I'm with you 110% on the great folks, great info part of your remark though!Hurricane Skimmer 128

What areas are you talking about ......... most of the posts are tidewater south of the BB and most of the people seem to be outside of the beltway on the southwest side into NVA ........... so I'm not sure where you are talking about ........... most guys post about where they want to fish and when and usually a few guys show to fish with them .........
I don't see much south of the Potomac like the Rapp but if you would post in advance you are going, i'd bet you would have at least a few meeting you there ........ and if you are successful then there would be alot of people ..........
Everyone is always looking for new areas, new friends, new products, new vendors and new DIY .......... there are over 1000 yakers sharing ........... without rules and without rigid heirarchy .......... that's waht makes this so great in my opinion.
If there is something that you think is not being addressed then you can take the lead and see if you are satisfied .......... or you can go to the expense of time and money to build you own ........... I'm sure plenty of people here will support ya and may even help ya ............
I don't think anyone would reall be offended but I just don't understand exactly what is not being addressed
