In addition to Bass, Carp, and Catties, the ponds also have both White and Yellow Perch, Pickles, Crappies, Sunfish of several varieties, and occasionally Rock. I have seen all of these caught there.
Rumor has it that even Walleyes have been caught there, but I can't confirm that.
It is more of a tidal freshwater area than a true brackish body of water.

There are plenty of bass in bell grove.. best day ive had in there my father and i got 10 a piece and he got a 6 lber.. and weve caught a 21 inch smallmouth out of there.

Place is LOADED with crappie and yellow perch as well.

Majority of that upper pond and river is fresh water with a hint of salt making it brackish. But its majority fresh since its runs out of the reservoirs

Ive caught LMB out in front of the hospital all the time to.

And to confirm the last post the state record for brackish walleye came out of bell grove at 4 1/2 lbs a few years ago from a buddy of mine. I fish that place pretty exclusively. Its a fun place to fish close to home

It is possible to park and launch from Belle Grove Rd, and Thomas Ave. There is a small, 3 car lot just west of the American Legion Hall on Belle Grove..
Then a 50 yard rough carry over a dirt trail and a 10 foot drop across the broken rip rap. I have launched there with my canoe, but it was a PITA.
This will allow you to fish the lower couple of ponds. The upper most pond of the bunch can only be reached from the River or a short second carry across the isthmus just past the power lines.
The ponds used to be gravel pits, as I recall.

Do not park at the AL, you will be towed. They occasionally allow parking during Yellow Perch season, the best hole for these is just behind the Hall. It is the smallest of the ponds.
Woody (tacklemake) used to fish there a good bit until he took a bad fall and impaled himself on a cut tree stump. He would fish a tiny jig below a slip bobber and catch Crappies and YP's in mid winter.
