  • Washington Post article about lack of public access to the Bay.

If more people were allowed to assess the Bay, if only with car top launches, the pressure to clean up and protect the Bay would increase substantially.

I haven't read the article but I get the drift....

And it is a big plus towards organization of the paddlers as the hobby/sport has increased...
    For example the post http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...little-croaker
and the gentleman's experience with a land owner... who thinks they own every bit of sand along their property.
I am sure the landowner has had some unpleasant experiences with other people leaving trash etc on the pristine beach,
and now is super protective of the land that is not their own... and seek to keep it beautiful and clean to protect the bay.

How are they to know the lone kayaker is just a good guy that also respects the bay and it's beauty ?
They don't and it sucks to have had the experience the gentleman had on his beautiful day on the bay to have been met
    with such animosity.

I am sure many of you have experienced the lazy trash people when a dumpster is just a short walk away
    at many of the launches.

Let alone the ridiculous amount of no parking signs along public roads... that the beach in front, is most likely public land.

The Surfrider organization has mad enormous strides opening up beaches for surfers that would have otherwise been
    restricted...

It could very well be the time that the paddler's join up with Surfrider as they have the political clout and resources for just such
a project. And the paddler's show a presence to the community that they are a good group to have as their neighbors.

Unfortunately... it is often the few that make it inhospitable for the majority of good people.

Thanks for the post... maybe this will go somewhere... I surely hope so.

    R.
